WISEcode Labs was featured in the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) 2025 Annual Report as a Campus Partner. The following is the full feature story as it appears in the report.
WISEcode Labs guides companies through the analytical testing required to bring safe, accurately labeled products to market. WISEcode's emphasis on transparency ensures testing confidence across food, beverage, ingredient, and supplement products.
WISEcode was built out of real-world demand. While supporting its sister company, which is building the world's most comprehensive food and nutrition database, its founders encountered testing requirements that existing laboratory models could not meet efficiently. The effort required comprehensive testing across thousands of the most prevalent ingredients in the food supply, representing most of what consumers eat. Rather than compromise on rigor, consistency, or clarity, WISEcode was built to meet those requirements head-on.
WISEcode is purpose-built around food and supplements, where its depth of chemistry and microbiology testing rivals those that are found within highly consolidated, multi-industry laboratory networks. By pairing this deep expertise in food and supplements with a collaborative service model, the lab delivers comprehensive capability without the fragmentation that results from operating across numerous legacy systems. According to Vice President of Sales, Sue Ann Seitz, WISEcode's model allows clients to work through complex testing decisions collaboratively, with clear communication from intake through results.
The familiar "Nutritional Facts" label on food packaging depends on precise analytical testing to ensure accuracy which WISEcode delivers. Shelf-life and nutrient content testing all rely on validated analytical methods that WISEcode Labs also provides—giving consumers confidence in the products they choose.
WISEcode's suite of extensive lab analysis includes microbiology testing, chemistry testing, and product evaluation, all conducted by qualified laboratory professionals. Specific to shelf-life verification testing, WISEcode's walk-in accelerated chambers simulate variable climate conditions of heat, humidity, and other factors that can accelerate shelf-life results (e.g., one week in the chamber equates to one month on the shelf).
For those operations with limited capacity for internal testing, WISEcode can also courier and drop off testing supplies as needed. Sharing resources offsets costs to small business owners who want to launch innovative products. A balanced portfolio of large and small clients cultivates long-term relationships and enables start-ups to grow their market presence.
Following its full commercial launch, WISEcode Labs now serves a growing base of food and supplement companies across the United States. And with that growth, we continue to invest in our people to make sure our clients get the best and most current practices. Examples include the recent addition of Reagan Brashears, PhD. Reagan and our Food Safety and Regulatory executive, Sharon K. K. Beals, are collaborating on a series of Lunch and Learns for our clients to take them through the hot topics facing the industry. They will be kicking off the series with Salmonella and diving into the other pathogens, supplier programs, environmental testing, and many other related topics.
WISEcode operates under ISO 17025 accreditation, the global standard for laboratory competence. This accreditation reflects validated methods, rigorous quality systems, and regulatory readiness. The team's due diligence exceeds standard proficiency tests; chemists initiate internal audits for all methods to ensure that the most robust methods are always available to serve our dedicated clients and protect the end consumer. Rather than being audit-averse, the team's thoroughness anticipates regulatory and accreditation requirements and models for consumer-focused leadership.
During North Carolina's 2025 flood, WISEcode prioritized rapid testing support for affected clients to help essential products reach market during the disruption. It is that spirit of reliance on each other that drew WISEcode Labs to Kannapolis. In the 2021 mid-COVID era, WISEcode's board sought a home to begin operations — contenders included Raleigh, Phoenix, Denver, and other major research hubs. The groundbreaking research coming out of Kannapolis' campus impressed the board enough to locate here.
